Our Team

Our team are passionate about providing you with the best that modern dentistry can offer. From restorative and preventative work, to cosmetic dentistry, we will work in partnership with you to enhance and maintain your smile.

Dr Peter Johnston BDS (Edin), DPDS (Bristol)
GDC No 67704

Peter is from Dumfries and qualified in 1992 from Edinburgh.

He moved South after qualification working in 3 practices before joining forces with Ulla and setting up Castleton Dental Practice in March 1998.

In 2000, he obtained a second degree from Bristol providing special interest in root canal therapy (endodontics) and restorative dentistry. This involves fixing the tops of teeth through a variety of methods including crowns and bridges, fillings, implants and dentures. He also studied oral surgery and prosthodontics (dentures and implants).

Peter lives locally with his wife, three children and menagerie of animals including Nell the Welsh collie.

Outside of dentisty, his interests are in his childrens' activities and his own sports, squash and tennis. He also enjoys golf, skiing, cycling to work and a little triathlon (emphasis on little and to be honest, infrequent!)


Dr Matt Golightly BDS
GDC No 69698

Matt graduated from Kings College in 1993 and went straight into hospital surgical posts for two years where he gained valuable surgical experience.

He has since spent the remaining 22 years in practices in the local area, firstly in Sandhurst and latterly in Wokingham. Over the years he has added to his skill set to the point where he is able to carry out most types of dentistry along with implant, orthodontic, sedation and facial aesthetic treatments.

He has taken further training in implants with the Royal College of Surgeons and orthodontic training with IAS Academy where he is presently completing their advanced programme.

Matt has a reassuring and confident manner and has a reputation as a competent and skilled practitioner who always strives to excel in caring for his patients.

He doesn’t get much spare time but when he does he enjoys going to the gym, helping out with his hockey club (no longer as a player) and tending his garden.



Jo Hounsham - Practice Manager

Jo is from Hartlepool and has been with the practice since 2001. During her time with us, she has obtained a diploma in dental practice management.

Her outside interests include yoga, reading and sketching.

Andrea Jay - Hygienist
GDC No 4125

Andrea is from Redditch, Worcestershire. She qualified as a Dental Hygienist at Birningham Dental Hospital in 1991, moved to Godalming with her husband and began working at a practice in Guildford where she still works part time. After having her two daughters, she joined Castleton Dental Practice in 2007.

She has a "non-lecturing" and respectful approach to educating her patients. She has a special love of treating nervous patients gaining their trust and helping them overcome their fears. She enjoys keeping up to date with ongoing CPD (Continued Professional Development) and attending courses.

Andrea's hobbies include Pilates, Yoga and attending the gym.

Naomi Osborn - Hygienist
GDC No 2207

Naomi trained as a dental hygienist with the Royal Army Dental Corps and has a friendly and gentle approach to her patients. Naomi has two grown up sons who both work in different areas of the motor industry.

In her spare time she loves travelling, coastal path walking and meeting up with family and friends. Although no pets of her own at the moment she dog sits when friends go away!


Katy Gandhi Dip Dent Hygiene Wales 2004
GDC No 6541

Katy qualified as a hygienist at Cardiff Dental Hospital, University Hospital of Wales in 2004. She joined Castleton Dental Practice in February 2014.

Katy is experienced at treating a wide variety of patients, including those with periodontal disease, dental implants, and those undergoing orthodontic treatment.

Katy provides individually tailored oral health advice in a relaxed and friendly manner, ensuring high quality care is provided at all times. She is passionate about the benefits that good oral hygiene offers and ensures this is communicated when working with her patients.

She keeps up to date with current General Dental Council requirements for continued professional development, and is a member of the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy.

Katy lives in Guildford with her husband, and is a keen traveller. She enjoys cycling, music, and photography.

Lucy Archibald – dental nurse in training/ receptionist

Lucy is currently working towards qualifying as a dental nurse and you may sometimes see her helping out on reception. She's our youngest member of the team and is enjoying the start of what she hopes to be a long career in dentistry.

Outside of her dental career Lucy lives with her boyfriend in Fleet and likes socialising, seeing her family and dancing around at gigs and music festivals always in a great pair of shoes.

Francesca Stoneman- Dental nurse
GDC No 145491

Francesca has been a qualified dental nurse since 1974 and has worked in the practice for over 30 years.

In her spare time she enjoys family life and walking with her two dogs.

She also likes theatre, cinema, and exhibitions, and  practices her German when visiting friends in Germany.

Deana Stone - Receptionist
GDC No 120516

Deana has been working in dentistry for over 37 years, initially as a dental nurse.

She is currently working as a dental nurse tutor, assessor and internal quality assurer and now also as a receptionist.

She spends her spare time with her family and Westie, Millie.

Tina Massam - Dental nurse / Receptionist
GDC No 117528

Tina has been a dental nurse for 23 years. She also is a dental assessor and has experience in many aspects of specialist practice.

In her spare time she enjoys time with her husband and working their two black Labradors.

She also keeps close ties with and friends and family back in Weymouth.

Friday morning early appointments 7.45am
